All in all, the staff made the stay extremely enjoyable, and took away from the disappointing location and lack of amenities in the area.Ĭouldn't fault this place at all! Staff: switched-on, genuinely helpful and polite (couldn't do enough for us). There is a 7/11 on the corner of Portland St., but again we avoided it at night. There are very few places in the location to eat, with many of the local bars closed down. It is a good 20 minute walk to Downtown Crossing and the neighborhood at night is less than savoury, with alot of undesirables wandering the streets. The only drawback of this hotel is location. The rooms and bathrooms were immaculately clean. If you like art deco style, you'll love this. Our room was mediocre, being quite small and the view of a brick wall from our window was less than endearing! The decor is great, red and black being the main colour theme. They were helpful and friendly and seemed to really enjoy their jobs! We got a great rate of 550 euros, room only, for 2 people. Have just returned from a three night stay at the Onyx Hotel, Boston.
